I grew in the freaking middle of the psychedelic movement in art. To say the least it has colored my world.
A coworker asked me to do “real Bear” art for him to hang in his living room. He wanted something that spoke to me and said something about how I see me and how I see the world.
The bear figure is taken from a figure commonly carved by the indigenous peoples of West Coastal Canada and Coastal Alaska. The colors and background are me, pure me.
One of the happiest times of my life were the, oh too brief, times I spent out in British Columbia. The bear rides down the river banging his drum and joyful participating in the music that Gaia plays around us.
While deeply influenced by the psychedelic movement, the background also reflects the work I have been doing with complex spirals.
