In 1929 georgia O'keeffe painted the Ranchos Church in Taos.
It was a mind blowing expreiance to be able to go and photgraph it in about 1998
Here is a cyanotype on water color I made of the image cyanotype is a photographic printing process that gives a cyan-blue print.
The English scientist and astronomer Sir John Herschel discovered this procedure in 1842. Though Herschel is perhaps the inventor of the cyanotype process, it was Anna Atkins, a British scientist, who brought the process into the realm of photography. She created a limited series of cyanotype books that documented ferns and other plant life. By using this process, Anna Atkins is regarded as the first female photographer.
I never heard about the Ranchos Church before, it really is an interesting building. But this photograph here is something else, I love the way the shades of cyan are a shape in themselves, it gives a very surreal feeling. I'd love to try doing something like this at least once, but of course, I need a darkroom first... Anyway, congrats, this is in my opinion an outstanding work!
I'm working my way back to school! And I really want to try my hand at photography, in the fundamental way! But finding a good darkroom is very hard and expensive to come by. I'll let you know what my progress comes out to! Thanx for your support!
